Which macOS version do I need?
PrivacySwitch requires macOS 14.2 (Sonoma) or later — that's the first version providing the system interface needed for microphone detection.
Does anything run through a cloud?
No. Microphone mute, usage detection, and statistics run entirely locally on your Mac. The only network connections are the license check against Lemon Squeezy and the optional update check.
Can PrivacySwitch really block the camera?
No — and no other app can honestly promise that either. Apple doesn't allow any app to block the camera system-wide. Instead, PrivacySwitch reliably detects activity and makes it impossible to miss with a large warning window.
Is this a subscription?

Is there a German version?
Yes, PrivacySwitch is fully localized in German and English — you can switch the language in Settings, and this website is available in both languages too.
